Default HI! I live in Alabama! And beginning with a ??

    TERRIFIC SITE!

Considering the Jelly Roll 1600" quilt, what has everyone been doing for border/finishing, or even increasing the size a bit? I do have 2 charm packs in the same fabric and was thinking of just going around it. I do like to make larger projects. (IE: My lap quilts tend to lean on the size for a single bed, thinking that I want a lap quilt that goes to my neck, plenty to tuck around sides, and go under my feet.)

I was looking for a quilting forum, and stumbled over this site from the link on a You Tube Video to make the 1600" Jelly Roll Quilt, after I had seen another one, looking up jelly roll patterns. The first one, was just straight, end to end. Then I saw the tutorial video on the 1600" using the "binding" technique. Well, glad to say that I had pretty good success with the first one, then when I decided to use bali pops (same as 2.5" jelly roll) and used the angled approach. Well, after ironing the completed bali, I placed it on the floor in the living room, then when my cat took to running across it and diving into the sides...(habit of hers), I noticed that there were about 5 rows with some of the pieces going in opposite direction (ugh... and I was trying to be so careful!) 3 of the rows have small pieces on the end that can be "fixed," then 2 are sizeable, and one of them has the slash in both directions. Just having to rip the big ones out and hopefully flip them, will work, but decided to fold it up and look at it with a fresh eye (self-marathon sewing event). I usually try to get extra when looking at fabric for a project, just in case...well... the case has presented itself. I also like to do something along the lines of a reversible quilt for the backing.

This does remind me that I did hear of an Amish approach to quilting...I heard that they put a "mistake" in a quilt, as to show they are not perfect, have flaws, but that God is the only 'perfect One.'

Hi and welcome to the board from Walnut Grove, Alabama. I once had a dear, close, quilting friend named Belinda. BTW, I end up with a mistake in my quilts and they weren't planned. Glad you joined us

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Matching charm pack squares around the edge of your Jelly Roll Race would be pretty if you need it bigger.
