I would applique a new duck on good fabric. cut it out near the stitching, and hand stitch it OVER the other applique. No one will ever know. Good luck!

It's an adorable quilt, I would applique a new duck onto the damaged one, then applique around the duck like you did before, it will just mean a little more quilting; unless, of course, you give the hat a dapper Dan quilt.

Good thing that it did this before you gave it away.

I love your baby quilt and was wondering if you could tell me if you had a pattern for the quilt and where I could get it and also the animals. My grandson will be 44 this Oct. 1 and he and his wife are expecting in Aug. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. Thank you so much.

I wonder if the fabric is only secured by the embroidery outline stitches and that is why it frayed. I would not trust the rest of the duck to stay put. You could take off the duck fabric and add applique pieces in the center. They should be easy to duplicate.

That was my first thought too...a hat, maybe a scarf if needed too! Tack/glue down what is still there and applique over it! No one will know!

I always wash my quilts before they go out. I had a bad experience years ago where one of my quilts came "undone" in several places and I've never sent one out unwashed again.

There are lots of free hats for ducks on the web. Here is one for you. Just copy it onto fabric and applique it on
the ducks head.

such a cute quilt. shame that had to happen. since the belly is frazzled too. I think i would put a hat and a shirt on him. for example a sailor hat and nautical shirt, or strawhat with overalls. or if a girl is getting it maybe a bonnet and dress. hopefullt you will show us how you decide. alot of cute ideas here.good luck.

I agree with a hat, maybe a sun hat with a large brim and a ribbon tied around her neck.
