I've had two and love them both. The secret to threading is PATIENCE, a small LED flashlight and the instruction book. After you have threaded it correctly, take the thread out and do it over again till you familiarize yourself with where each thread goes. One of my favorite tips is to match the thread color to the suggested thread color the shown on the machine, that way you learn what each needle does when it sews. Always start the threading with the lower looper, then upper looper, right needle and finally left needle. Hope this helps

I have a serger collecting dust. Used it all the time when I was clothes sewing, but now it just takes up floor space in the closet.

Love it, hate threading it. My husband does it for me. Don't use it. I keep threatening to sell it but I keep it around "just in case".

I have that very serger. I don't change the threads all that often because for the pajama pants I have been making, it doesn't really matter. But, I did take a class where I bought it and she had us take all the threads out and rethread. I don't know if I remember, but, I was able to do it. I would now just tie the new threads to the old ones if possible. I don't use it for half of what it can do, but, I'd wanted one for a long time and for what I have used it, I'm very pleased.

I bought a new Brother Project Runway and it is so easy to thread. I bought this for I was making 50 pillowcases for the children's hospital and my old one would not stay threaded, but it was time that serger was 17 years old. Almost old enough to vote.

I love my serger! And I don't really mind (too much) when I have to re-thread it. If I am just changing thread colors, I but the old thread near the spool and tie the new thread on to the old piece and run the machine until the new color thread is all the way through the serger. BTW: a square knot works best - you know - right over left and left over right. You learned it in Girl Scouts.

This new one replaced the wonderful Singer I picked up at an estate sale -- sadly lost in the flood of Hurricane Sandy. But when I got it and opened the manual my head immediately started to hurt. Our son was the serger king and did all the threading and adjustments. So, I found this one online at Walmart. Sadly since we lost the house, our son is no longer living with us, but he did come over to help the other day. I read the manual and said to myself, "Self, you can do this." I was wrong. Hubby got it going. Two needles are confusing, but I'll get the hang of it one of these days. Yes, the Babylock self-threading was tempting. The price was not.

My Mom gave me one she bought at an estate sale. Along with boxes of threads, trim, a floor quilting frame plus a lap hoop on a stand. Use everything but the serger. Sits on a shelf in my sewing room, its more of a decoration than something I use.
