    Default log cabin quilts

hi everyone, I am new to this site and am looking forward to learning from it.I have a few questions.... I am planning on quilting a traditional log cabin quilt and would like to know how to figure out how much fabric to buy. i am planning on using creams rose and soft green. I would appreciate any help i can get, have spent so much time trying to do this alone!! thankyou

that depends.. for example, a 96" (before the border, which I presume would be something else) quilt with 1.5" (finished size) "logs", as I drew it up would be 2 yds of cream 1, 2.5yeds of cream 2, 2 1/2 yds of the green and 1 1/5 yds of the rose. Since traditionally, one side of each block is lighter, the other darker, I started with the rose, then used the 2 creams on one side and alternating rose and green on the other. there are literally hundreds of different layouts you could use. You might prefer to have a variety in each color.

Welcome from northwestern Louisiana. Would love to see your finished log cabin. I'd like to make one someday. And want to know how you liked it.

    Hello and welcome from Minnesota!
You may want to google a free pattern online and choose the size you want.
Then it will tell you exactly how much of each fabric to purchase!
    Good luck....and have fun!
