I'm guessing you've been bitten by the quilting bug...you hang in there..... Just relax and have fun, look forward to hearing how you get on.

I would suggest you try to find an real person or shop to help you. Or find some basic YouTube videos. It's great that you're interested, but it seems like you need some visual, actual personal help - more than can be explained in words online. We'd love to hear about your quilting adventure, so keep us updated. But DO try and find a person or quilt shop where you are that can help.

You need to start with a beginners quilting class.

I agree with jcrow. Google "You Tube" and search for Jenny Doan. She has the best tutorials. You can also search "Sewing for Beginners". Good Luck and have fun. Stay with this Board and view it daily for the best advice and suggestions and amazing ideas. You will learn a lot from the members on this board. They are the most encouraging bunch of people I've come across. When one member posts a link, click on it then bookmark it for future use. If you have any old greeting cards that don't have sentimental value or the different junk mail cards that come in the mail use them. With a permanent marker you can make your own templates. I started out sewing (self-taught) with a mending kit. Often many quilters and seamstresses started out small.

When I first started quilting I bought a cheap flannel backed tablecloth and hung it on the wall. This way you can stick the squares on the flannel without pins and arrange them by color and see if just sewing them all togather looks good. That would be a nice simple quilt that would be easy to quilt after you put the backing and batting on. An x pattern thru the blocks is easy to do by machine.
Also sashing the blocks makes a really pretty quilt.

first visit your local library for books on quilting. hopefully they will have some. I read and read and watched any t.v. show I could find. now you can find tutorials galore online that should help you a great deal. keep it simple and have fun.

Listen to CharsueWilsons advice. This is good advice for a beginner. It will turn out to be pretty.
