All boils down to how one is brought up. 2 legged or 4 legged.

Is it possible that the cat thinks the rat is a kitten?

all of our pets always got along till now. the only one we have left won't tolerate anymore and wants to be the only furbaby. but we had a shepard that took care of the guinea pigs and slept with them. He knew when their snack time was and would make sure we got it to them by goosing us there, of course then they would squeal and he loved that.Of course for a while to he thought he was a cat. he got bigger though and had to be rescued from under the couch cause he couldn't get out and it was so funny that he wanted to sit in the window with them but after awhile he would just fall bringing the cushion down with him. We also had a cat that had to have playtime with it's hamster each night and slept on top of it's cage. thier favorite game was when we put the hamster in it's ball and they would play chase. First you would see the cat chasing the ball then a min. later the cat would be running away from the hamster. We also had a couple of cats that had a beta fish for a pet. the fish would come up and they would watch him and he would go lower and lower in the water till the cats got a nose full of water. You would think the cats would wisen up but they never did. They really missed their buddy when he passed away and sat by his bowl at playtime each day for a couple of weeks looking for him. your daughters animals look really sweet.

My Siberian/wolf had her own cat the last year I worked because I worked extra hours and I didn't want her alone too much. One day, I found Mia pulling Sammicat across the vinyl floor by his head. I told her no - ladies don't do that. She stopped and Sam walked over to put his head in her mouth. I changed the order to "No carpet, hard floor only" and they were both happy.

Our animals are such fun creatures. Your daughter's are a special pair.

Now comes Bubba the pet rat. They are pals!!! I don't know how she does this but she is able to get animals to be friends.
Your daughter is a very lucky girl - Louie is a Persian. They are noted for their beauty and mild temperments. Unlike most cats, they are very affectionate and loyal - just want to be part of everything. So happy Louie has found a loving home !
