I buy all I can get in the car and not have to leave a human behind.

If you can manage it, go to The Material Girl Fabric Outlet in Dover. She has a great inventory and prices that will make your trip worthwhile.

If there isn't anything jumping out at me, I will buy at least 3 coordinating fat quarters, Figure I can always make a table topper. My dream is when I retire to be able to visit all 50 states. I have Carol Doak's 50 fabulous Paper pieced stars and I envision a star for each state with fabric purchased in that state. Nice dream but good chance will never happen as my husband isn't a big traveler---he has worked construction for many many years and has lived on the road in the travel trailer. I wish now I had fabric from each state I have been to in my lifetime as some of them I probably won't make it back to.

I agree about Bronners, and it's a great place. Taking an empty suitcase always is a good plan.

I agree with the empty suitcase. Every shop is different and you may find some beautiful fabrics that aren't available at your local shops. Also, there might be display quilts that you just "have to have" the kits lol. It never ends....always an excuse to buy fabric.

I usually don't know what I want to purchase but if I see something that isn't available locally and I love it then I buy it. A couple years ago I bought fabric for a quilt for my grandson - hadn't planned on it but the fabric was perfect for him. When we vacation my husband will point out quilt shops - he is always willing to stop and browse with me. We travel by motorcycle so I usually have the fabric shipped home.
