I haven't seen this in the stores or tried it out, but my first thought was if it would cut the strips evenly. From several of the replies, it doesn't sound like it works very well. If you do try it, let us know what you think of it.

I'm going to say "ditto" to what "faykilgore" said. Having recently lost my DH of 52 years, I'd give my eye teeth to do all she suggested.
