Do You Listen To Music While You Quilt?
#61
I used to listen to music but found myself sewing to the beat....fast then slow. Now I watch/listen to dvds on the tv. Mostly old television series like Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, Gunsmoke, etc. They are mostly for the noise as I have already seen the programs. Just like the noise.

I listen to audio books all the time. Ironing, cleaning up the kitchen, boring housework, driving. Audio books don't work real well with cooking, especially if it is a new or a more complicated recipe. I get the CD's from the library, and best of all, they are free. You can also download them, and many of those are free.

I usually have the TV on because the it drowns out the outdoors sound. My dogs bark at every little noise. And that little one has the quickest, highest shrill bark. Scares the daylights out of you and don't want to mess anything up. Once he barked as I was using the rotary cutter. 3 stitches later and one mess on the material and some really good pain meds it was an expensive little project. I would prefer to have nothing. I only have 5% hearing in the right ear anyway so I like the quiet. I have about 90% in the left. I like some jazz but that puts me to sleep. Can't afford that.

The lady that encouraged me to try free motion quilting years ago before I got my machine and frame always told me to listen to music that was in 4-4 time because it would help my stitches be more even and smooth. She laughingly told me she always sang to herself Row, Row, Row Your Boat when she was meandering...lol....funny thing is that she can't sing on key at all and she always thought it was funny too...haha. Now I usually have a movie on or listen to pandora.

I listen to Pandora. My choices include Michael Buble, Barbra Streisand, Lionel Richie, Doobie Brothers, journey, Hall & Oats, Willie Nelson, Alabama....very wide range. It just depends upon my mood!
