The 201 has a horizontal bobbin, the 15-91 has vertical bobbin. I've heard the 15-91 is better for fmq, but they are both excellent, reliable machines. $200 seems a little too high to me.

I'd say $200 for a 15-91 is way high. Got one here in a cabinet way, way cheaper than that! Too bad you're not closer...such a deal I could make you!

I bought a 15-91 in a cabinet for $35. I have a 201 that was stretched and put on a frame, it stitches beautifully.

wow I hear about having your machine stretched, was it real costly to have your machine done? guess I'll forget about the one on ebay and keep looking, maybe I will run in to a good deal somewhere,,,,Thanks again

The 201 came to me already stretched, so I'm not sure what the cost was. I don't believe the company stretches Singers anymore, but they do stretch other machines.

I have 2 singer 15's, love them both. paid $50 for one in a cabinet and stool. paid $20 for the other one 37 yrs ago.
Just can't beat them, feed dogs drop on these for FM. The 15 is a favorite of mine.
