Unusual Place Names

Of course, there are plenty of unusual ones in Australia but the one that caught my fancy was a place along Hadrian's Wall in the U.K. It was called " Twice Brewed".

I live not too far from Twice Brewed in Northumberland. We also have a place called Pity Me and a town called No Place, it is amusing to see the sign on the bus with the destination No Place.

Toad Suck Arkansas comes to mind. In Conway AR, they have a festival each year called Toad Suck Daze. Then there is Stinking Creek TN. The creek must have had an odor when they chose the name. LOL

Here in Oregon we have Aloha, Oregon; in California there is Rough and Ready, CA; Volcano, CA (used to live nearby); and Placerville, CA used to be Hangtown (yes, they DID hang people there in the 1800's).
