Cut and Shoot, TX and Tomball, TX are not far from where we live. Tomball was named for Tom Ball, a local congressman, but they spell and say it as one word.

What gets me about place names are the funny pronunciations. New Madrid, MO, Vienna, IL and Cairo, IL are not pronounced at all like the places they were named for.

We are visiting our son & family. While grocery shopping, we were in California, Maryland. Never knew those "two coasts " would be "merged"

Wow! A lot of wonderful responses. I was just thinking about Berlin, New Hampshire. And there is also a Ninety Six, in North or South Carolina. I had to laugh at a lot of your posts. We sure can be creative with naming things. Stratford on Avon, and so many others. It's great. I hope to see more.

I grew up in Marblehead, MA, and recently lived in Cairo, NY. There is also a Delhi, NY, Mexico, NY.

I've been to Twice Brewed, Northumberland.

There is a town in East Anglia called Cat's Bottom.

This is so funny. I never thought of Delaware, Ohio being even remotely unique.....but I guess maybe it is. What a great way to start my day!
