Alternatives include:
Woolite Dye Magnet
Zero Dye Magnet (I believe this is Canadian?)
Carbona laundry sheets

I live in Calgary, AB and get my Shout Colour Catchers at Safeway in the laundry section. I don't think Safeway has stores in Eastern Canada, though.

I look every time I am in a store- grocery, dollar, variety- none to be found in Quesnel, B.C. (I do have a stash of them because I bought all that safeway had when they were clearing them out a few years ago. Box of 50 for 7.50 -Zero brand, I think.)

I used to be able to buy the Shout Colour Catchers here in Ontario, but, about 6 months ago all the stores removed them from their shelves. I asked at WalMart, Independent, Zeller's and a couple of other places and was told the same thing each time...They have been recalled and will not be re-stocked. No-one seemed to know why though. Since I really like them and use them with every quilt and gave the quilt receipient a couple, I wanted them. Finally, had to order them from Amazon.com...bought a case(12 boxes), so that should last a little while.

I called the 1-800- number on the box of Zero Dye Magnet and was told the product was discontinued, but couldn't tell me why. The guy had no idea what I was even talking about.

I go to Buffalo frequently and buy them there at Target. I will be going again soon, let me know and I can get you some.

There are some things that are always worth the price. And bleeding on a quilt you worked hard on is one of the prices you have to pay for color catchers to save that hard work. If it were $10.00 a box, I'd still pay it.

If I know a quilt is going to bleed - I put in two or three color catchers. Don't know if it helps anymore than one.

Good luck on finding them.
