Default Need help finding a Thread

What I'm looking for is a Thread about a year and a half ago about a pinwheel challenge. The challenge was to make 75 pinwheels in 75 days (or something like that). It was a cool way to make the pinwheels as well as someone posted what size squares you needed to get a certain size block.

I've spent a lot of time searching but just can't find it. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

I typed in Pinwheel Challenge in the search box. There were three pages of answers. On the second page another QB member had this site. Enjoy!

Barb in Louisiana bet me to it. It sounds like the post that you were looking for. The pictures of the quilts in other posts from the challenge were beautiful.

Nice job, quilters!

I reread the original post & realized you wanted info on how to cut the triangles for different pinwheel sizes. FYI... I typed in Pinwheel Tutorial in the search box and had 8 pages of answers. This is the first one I saw that could answer your question.

The following post gave several websites that will give you more info about sizes & different techniques for HST's.

Too funny....I had always wondered about the measurement too. Glad you made me look for the answer. Have a great day sewing!

Yes Barb you got what I was looking for, Pinwheel Project. It is the math I'm looking for. Need to think about this now. Thank you so much for your help.

This formula for the sew around the edge method was posted by a member here Ceil:

"I think the formula for each block should be this:
Whatever your block side is subtract .5 then multiply by 1.4 then subtract .5.

So if you start with 6 in squares - .5 = 5.5 X 1.4 = 7.7 - .5 = 7.2. Trim to 7 in."

I remember that the chart I posted didn't work at all but the above formula was good.

HTH
I'm embarrassed to say I have not finished by quilt yet!
