I've made many scrappy quilts, and how to store scraps has always been a question without an answer. I don't cut mine into preselected sizes because I never know how large the scraps have to be before I decide on a quilt pattern. I have always stored mine by color -- plastic bags of blues, greens, etc. I can select the degree of brightness I want once I dump a bag and start to finger the scraps. Scrap quilts are great fun. Hope you enjoy making them as much as I do!

I don't cut mine into specific sizes but do keep scraps in two bins (one for darks and one for lights). That leaves me option of finding matching pieces as I need them. Two of my scrap favorites are these. The little one is made from those leftover HST corners that get trimmed off flying geese. They are about 1 1/4" finished. So see, no scrap is too small.

Jean Wells Kenan has a good book on scraps. For art you can just start sewing them together. Also they can make a crazy quilt

recently I cut them into small pieces to go into a dog bed. Got tired of trying to manage them.

I had the same experience and decided on the same approach. But, haven't gotten the energy up to sort them. Thought I would Use some first...but I swear they multiply when you aren't looking.

I like to make Mile-A-Minute blocks. I don't even iron my strips and chunks until I cut them apart the first time (before adding to more strips). These make quick quilts for Project Linus.

This is what I was going to suggest as well. She has so many free patterns and great ideas for cutting up scraps. I've made two of her quilts and they turned out well.

I got a few requests about the name of this quilt & the magazine. I found it! It's called Pick & Choose http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/magazi...-2009/page/8/0
