I have the Baby Lock Quilters Choice Professional on the Little Grace II frame. I have had it about 6 years and think it is great. A new one - Jane - has replaced the one I have. Both come/came with an extension table along with walking foot, etc. Maximum speed is 1500 spm and I believe the harp is over 9 inches. Other brands have similar models with pretty much the same features. It's just I am a Baby Lock fan so tend to stay with the brand but others are comparable and all about personal preference.

I would go and check out a/some dealers. I bought my Elna Quilter's Dream used for $1000, and I love it.

I just recently bought a Juki TL98Q from a friend for $500. it was just recently serviced & only used a few times. It has a 9" throat, although I wished it was a bit bigger...someday!
You can also check craigslist in your area. There was just a post in the Phila. area for the very same machine for 500.

If harp is your concern for FMQ, I would buy a Juki for the price. My Janome 8200 has an 11 inch harp but for 3000 versus 5-800, that's an expensive 2 inches.....kind of like NY real estate prices.

I have a 15" Bailey that use on a frame. I love it. Chuck now has a 13" midarm machine w/a sit-down sewing table for $2098. Here is the link to that. http://www.baileyssewingcenter.com/sppa113mawis.html. He also has 13" Baileys for $1599. Here is the link to that. http://www.baileyssewingcenter.com/homequilter.html. He also has classroom machines that he discounts.

I have the Brother 1500s and have had it since 2000. A real workhorse and never complains......I also have a Janome 6600 which has an 11" throat. Both are good machines, but the Brother is just a straight stitch and the Janome does many types of stitches......

I agree with Shelbie. Have the same machine and am very happy with it.

What brand machine was priced at $1500 and is it a straight stitch only?
