Keepsake Quilting has a lovely pattern called "Hanging Gardens" that can be done with scrappy strips of whatever and looks to me like hanging crystals on a cream or white background. Try it... might be what you need.

Have you thought about making a Chevron quilt. I am getting ready to sandwich a turq. and white chevron I'm making for a Christmas gift. Love how it is turning out.

Can the bq3 be made into a double or would you lose the design? I made the Bq in Thomas the train but now grs wants a bigger boy quilt! He`s six! lol Gale

Check out "Endless Summer" by Mabeth Oxenreider. Sounds like exactly what you are looking for.

Nearly every quilt is adaptable to queen size. You just look up the pattern and it will tell you if it's adaptable. You can adapt by extra quilt blocks or borders.

Check the pattern called "Just Can't Cut It". It has directions for all sizes and I have made several from crib size to queen and am planning a king one soon! Most quilt shops have that pattern. Great use of colors!

You could also check Kaffe Fasset's website, they usually show some ideas there as well
