When I was in high school, we would scrounge around in the car to find enough change to put a gallon of gas in the car. Remember when it was common to ask the attendant for a dollar's worth of gas?

Lyncat, I remember that and when there were attendants and they washed the windshield and filled the tank....
gone are those days...

I asked DH this morning if he knew the price of a gallon of gas. He said $3.12 when he filled up yesterday at Exxon. We live in AR.

I think alternative fuel will be much more expensive. It's an economic puzzle that may never be solved.

I just paid $4.49 in Manhasset! Ugh! Could have paid less, but I don't pump my own because the smell makes me sick. BUT, the attendant DID wash the windows.

Don't forget when it was that much everything was less. Minimum wage, housing costs, we didn't have all of the malpractice lawsuits, life was actually simpler then.

Seattle area 3.93 yesterday for regular unleaded/ 3.57 today in central FL. Added taxes can make the difference.

And the shocker when in Seattle was the car rental was about $450 and the TAXES added another $250!!!!!! They really sock the tourists to help pay for the stadiums and such. Lovely city, glad we were able to live there at one time, but now am glad to live in a more rural area.

Mom to 5, I worked for my dad as a bookkeeper when gas was that low. My wage was $1.00 an hour. Think that's what he paid the counter fellows, too. Different times. Houses, cars, everything cost less.
