I keep watching Craig's List for a Featherweight in the Knoxville, Nashville area...cannot believe your good fortune. There was one for $1000.00 that was a droparm! Wish I had the money! BTW congrats on your find!!

I picked up a FW when we were camping last week. It had been totally reconditioned including the electrical and sold with a year guarantee. Of course, I paid twice what you did, but she's a honey. Hasn't had much use, or else it had more than average care. There was a tag on it with the name "Nancy". I'm not sure if one should rename a machine, so I just added to it. It's now labeled Fancy Nancy. It was issued in '49, has all the pieces and parts, box is like new, well almost, even the oil pad had been changed. It's going w/us in the camper when we travel. I have a special room in the camper for my quilting stuff, the bunk beds were removed in the slide out -- just need the right table and it's a GO! Hope you enjoy your new sweetheart as much as I do mine!
