There is a lot of waste, but I'm really picky about not using blocks that I consider to be ugly. The book calls for 10 yards to make a queen size I think. I did order 10 yards of this but used only 8 or so. And I do have some left over blocks that I felt just didn't fit in. Most of those had lots of leaves and were almost totally green so they just didn't work with what I had in mind for this one. I was looking for soft and feminine. You can see some of the green ones in the picture of the blocks.

I've never made a One Block Wonder quilt, so I have questions. This one is gorgeous by the way! When you get your blocks all cut and sewn together and go to assemble the entire quilt, do you group similar blocks together on purpose to make that focus area darker purple or does it just town out that way by chance???

Yes, I group them together. You sort your blocks into stacks of similar colors, and then just start from there. I wanted the darker ones to start in the center and then to fade out. But you could do it any way you want to. The book will help you so much with placement and matching one block to the next one.

Jenell,
Your quilt is just beautiful!
What book or pattern would you advise for someone who has never done a kaleidoscope?
Thanks!
