It seems from all the responses that you don't do that with FMQ.
I think it is always wise to machine or hand baste the edges...especially the closer to the outside that you get. I had even done that, but it was the excess fabric that folded over that caught me. Hopefully, I'll get it all out without tearing the backing...we'll see. Stay tuned.

Thanks for sharing, I'm new to FMQ'ng so I haven't done this yet, but I'm sure I will. Just like all the other learning curves I've experienced lately. I'm going to take your advise and hand base my edges ( along with the extra fabric) and hope that avoids a big OPP's. Love your quilting, nice job.

"I've even stitched my supreme slider to the quilt before! I only noticed because the machine sounded different to me. [/QUOTE]"

It's 2:30 Sunday morning and this just struck me as funny. Sounds like some of the things I do. I need to go to bed but just had to check in on all my friends here. Now I'll go to bed laughing.

. Thank you for clarifying. You reminded me of a time when I did that with my walking foot. Thanks for the memories!

Been there. Done that. It could have been worse. Get out your seam ripper and do what you have to do. The rest of your quilting is beautiful.
