I never thought about the dusty lint collecting on curtains. Now I have an excuse when my kid says I need curtains. I only have curtains on windows that face my neighbors in the living area's and nothing in my sewing room windows. Personally I detest any window coverings. Give me the sunshine. : )

I made a valance from fat quarters and added beads and sewing charms to each point, I also made café curtains for the bottom of the window by tearing fabric strips and used slip knots to put them on the rod.

I have vertical blinds with sheers, and neither are ever closed. The blinds were there when we bought the house and I left them just in case I ever decide to close them. Trees between the street and me provide all the privacy I need.

I have blinds also, but I will be making valances soon. The fabric is a flannel that I found at Jo-Anns. It also matches one of the Jo-Ann's plastic craft bags they sell. It has a sewing theme with light greens and pinks...same colors as my sewing room. I need to get busy and make them -- my room doesn't look finished until the valances are up.

I have mini blinds and a valance. Window faces north but the sewing machine sits right in front of the window and most of the time I get enough light if I open the blinds. If not I have a light I turn on that sits on the sewing table.

May I please ask what brand of weatherproof lining you used?
I would also like to make "quilt-themed" Roman shades.
Meanwhile, no curtains in the sewing room: I have allergies.
Now if I was really rich, I'd redo every window in the house with the kind of windows our house in Austria had: double panes with blinds on the inside of the window.
Sealed inside, the blinds never need cleaning!
And, no need for curtains!
