I usually take some knitting on flights and have a round "thingy" that has a slot in it for cutting my yarn.

Go to the TSA website (tsa.gov I think) and they have a section that tells you what you can take on the plane. When I flew out to Hawaii this last May I used a pair of my granddaughter's little snub nosed scissors and had no problems.

there is a wonderful shop called fabric mart on Oahu. So many beautiful Hawaiian fabrics. They're address is 45-681 Kamehameha hwy, Kaneohe, Hi. They also have a wonderful website. Just go to fabric mart. they do ship also. Hope this helps

You never know what the TSA is going to grab. They took my husband's Cross Pen, one that is dad gave him 45 years ago. He had traveled all over the world with it with no problem....until a TSA agent wanted a Cross pen, I guess. He told my husband that he could stab someone with it.....I can tell you who he wanted to stab with it! and he was on the ground.

Several nice quilt shops on Kauai. The Kapaia Stitchery in Lihue, Kauai. I found it last October also. I have been in other quilt shops on the other islands over the years.

I travel with a pair of mini scissors in my bag for my yarn. I like to crochet and knit while waiting and flying (wooden hooks or needles). The blades are like maybe a half of an inch. Here's a link to an etsy seller that sells them.
