I bought some thick flannel from Hancocks and made a rag quilt, has been washed a number of time with no piling.

I learned the hard way, you MUST ALWAYS prewash flannel unless you are doing a Rag Quilt !!

I never prewash, never had issues. I love moda and Henry glass flannels. They are wonderful to work with!

When I made a rag quilt, I took it to the dry cleaners to be washed. Best money I spent.
I agree some flannel is better than others.
