my family sucks. my aunt left me $$$, after she died. didn't know she had it, and never thought i'd be the one to get it. if my family knew, they'd be at my door right now. for my mil, she's great, we hang out about 2xs a week. she's terrible to shop with, she says get it, you can always return it. she's great.

Congratulations! I love jewelry! Diamonds, rubys, emerals, etc......
Hubby bought me a ruby braclet to go with the ruby ring I inherited from his side of the family. Now I only need the earrings to match. lol

Oooh, I love jewelry and have several nice pieces. Unfortunately, I'm in the process of selling several pieces I received in the past from the "ex". LOL I have set aside pieces for my grandchildren. My granddaughters love to go into my jewelry box and "play" (with supervision). My youngest DGD wants to know when she can take home her "special ring" which is her daddy's and her birthstone. I told her when she was old enough not to lose it. She's 6!!

i did the same sort of thing, with a ring. it was money from my dad, and most of it had been distributed amongst my kids, already--so my turn for a treat. i love the ring, and think of my dad every time i see it.
we have a 'joke/half-serious" motto in the family--"life is short. buy the shoes." our family is not foolish with our funds--but if it is something that will enhance your life, get it. no, it's not always shoes. sometimes it's only a half yard of fabric, or a special treat in the bakery. but if it makes your heart smile, it can't be all bad! in august, i lost a friend who dutifully worked until she was 70, and had been taking care of herself, eating right, losing weight, exercising, taking care of her ill hubby. i "talked" to her online on a tuesday. friday, she felt a little icky, and went to the emergency room. sunday, she died from congestive heart failure. she was 71.

I've been working since I was 12, and my aunt knew this. I ws very responsible and started paying my own med bills at 16, so I bought a ceiling fan for the living room, a new hot water heater, an electric box for outside (so we cn plug in lights), a cocktail ring, 2 50 cts, and the tennis bracelet 5 cts. I've sold jewelry for yrs, so I get it at cost. I also bought a 5.5 custom cut trillion shaped cor-de-rosa morganite, it's pink beryl. emerald is green beryl, so you could say a pink emerald. that was her favorite color. I also bought my son a bomber jkt and lined it with fur, and bought him a fur scarf, (it gets cold on long island), oh and a 1929 fw machine and an emberoidery machine. she'd be happy how I spent it. and I got reunited with my cousins, something I know she wanted. life is too short not to enjoy your blessings.
