Wow Patti - that quilt is fabulous and terrific all rolled into one - faburiffic!! I never knew Santa smoked!!! don't tell my kids, okay!

Seriously, the quilting is just amazing. Was that something you did FMQ style, or did you follow a pattern? Unbelievable, what a quilt! Auntshamaine, you are a lucky lady!

I tried to take Geta's shadow trapunto technique a little further. I layered Organza, then fabric, then batting...sewed the pattern then trimmed off the excess batting and fabric from the organza...then layered and quilted. It was kind of like a backwards applique. I wish I'd made the Santa a little fatter, but hey..he smokes, so the least he can do is not overeat I guess...LOL! The holly leaves were FMQ...its hard to mess up leaves since they are all shaped differently anyway.

Tracy, I'm really glad you like him. Whew...what a relief!

He's great, Patti!! And if it makes you feel any better, Santa didn't used to be fat. Up until the 50's or there about, he was normal sized. He didn't start to get rolypoly until Americans did. If I remember my history it coincided with the changing of the Met Life actuarial tables (desirable weights).

And Esq, you did too know he smoked if you've ever read The Night Before Christmas! But only a pipe now and then. And only outside. Mrs. Claus won't let him smoke it inside! LOL

I have three little quilts almost pieced and just trying to decide which one to send to 'you know who.'

    Decisions decisions.

Santa is cute. Like the 'cheeky' wink as k3 said.

Yippee!! Look what was waiting for me when I got home. It's from Suzi (ILUV2QUILT) Along with the quilt were fat quarters and rotary blades (which I always need). I love it! Thank you Suzi, very nice work.
