I'm always hopeful I'll bump into something like you did. I can't imagine why thrift stores won't take fabric. Goodwill has a baker system. So what doesn't get sold is made I to bales and recycled into something else.

Great score. Your FMG will settle down when you slow down a bit. If it doesn't, be sure to check your tension settings

Try Value Villiage for fabric, bags are 3 bucks an on half price day 1.50 and anything hanging on hangers on half price day is a great find too!

Your quilting looks super except for that problem. I do that, too, and it's maddening! Maybe get a bright colored sticky note and put it on the front of the machine whenever you lift the foot, or hang a looped ribbon over the lifter and wrap it out to the front of the needle where you can't miss it and would have to move it in order to sew.

Congrats on the thrift shop score.
