You're right, the orange stipe makes great sashing strips. Beautiful.

Go ahead and make your quilts. He will love them when you're done, even if they are from his 'old shirts.' What is old is new again in a quilt! Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville.com also has a pattern using men's shirts and it's Rectangle Wrangle I think is the name. Different! Check out her free patterns! very nice neutral quilt. Thanks for sharing. I have learned so much from Bonnie Hunter too! I spent a lot of time checking out all her free patterns and I love scrappy so her site has been my "go to" web site "quiltville.com"
