Welcome from Adrian, MI ~ I would suggest you practice before you actually cut into your quilt material if you have never used a rotary cutter

I highly recommend Book 1 of the Quilter's Academy by Harriet Hargrave. It is the first in a series of 6 and starts with the basics of cutting and quilting. My book is heavily highlighted --it contains a wealth of information!

Welcome from Missouri! Keep your first pattern SIMPLE! Don't cut all the blocks at once, On new patterns, I cut just enough to finish one block, IF I don't like it, or it was too difficult, I finish it into a throw pillow...IF I like it ( and it turns out) then I go ahead and feel confident cutting the rest of the blocks.
