This is what I do too, but I write in permanent ink on the side of the rubber wheel what machine the bobbins fit; that way I don't have to find a different color of wheel each time as it is sometimes hard to do. I really like these, they are easy to use and store well.

Years ago before I had so many bobbins to deal with, I used an ice tray that had been in one of those small refrigerators. It was sort of a mini tray. Also have seen the idea of using a cut off drink straw to run thru the thread spool (just a little longer than the spool). Then the bobbin sets on top of the matching spool of thread.

Empty Altoid mint boxes. They work great. I keep a box for cotton filled bobbins, and one for polyester.

Mmmm. This may be weird but I use the little toe separator thingies from my pedicures to hold my big bobbins for my long arm quilter. They work great.

I use the empty container from test strips used by diabetics to carry several bobbins in my "to go" hand sewing basket. This way I have several different colors that will work on whatever I am currently working on. The little black containers have a great snap on lid.
