I am confused by the term " Lone Star". I have always thought the lone star was made with diamonds. What really is the pattern you are looking for.

Sorry Dunster I meant Kaye has a pattern but 6 points. It is a lovely pattern but I want 8 .

Kaye Wood also has an 8-point lone star, Shimmering Star Lonestar - with a free pattern. http://www.kayewood.com/blog/freebies/free-patterns/

http://www.mccallsquilting.com/mccal...ne_Star_Salute has a pattern that I made with various materials. This might help ....there is another one that is easier. This is the back of the star to show you how it went togther.

Quiltsmart has the gridded fusible that is nearly impossible to mess up points. I used it for Mariner's Compass and would do a lonestar in a heartbeat.

This one has patterns for various point lone star quilts. I have the book and it looks relatively easy. It doesn't use the "dreaded" Y seam.

Try Debby Maddy's site, <www.calicocarriage.com> for patterns on lone stars and other stars---all with no "Y" seams. However, if you want to make an eight pointed star you are going to have Eight Points coming together in the centers, no matter what! Good luck.</www.calicocarriage.com>

You used to be able to buy kits for Lone Star Quilts. I got one at the guild garage sale, all ready to sew together, and all of the pieces were there. I was lucky! It made a beautiful quilt. Our youngest daughter wanted it so bad I gave it to her, then enlarged it with borders for her king size bed. Don't remember who made this kit, but maybe even Martha's Patterns, or whatever that Wal-Mart carries. Or even try Herschler's; they have about everything. Good luck! Mariah
