Camo quilt

I would throw in the light colors. I took a Craftsy class on colors, and the instructor said to always use light, medium and dark in a quit. I think if you used the all dark colors, it would be too dark.

I love the Fire Escape pattern...it goes together fairly quickly...with your choice of fabrics...you could also do a Take 5...also goes together quickly... Will be watching...as my son and grandson have both hinted that a camo quilt would be "soooo cool"...

I made a camo a couple years ago for my SIL. Printed pictures of him and his trophies - mostly deer. I incorporated them into the quilt. I used brown, greens and tans. Backed it with fleece and tied it. He loved it.

I might put in some lighter colors of the camo colors, but not the off-whites. A friend of mine made her grandson a camo quilt and she just used camo colored squares, similar to your choices, that were maybe 4 in. and just randomly placed in layout. Very much in keeping with the randomness of camo prints. It looked great and really nothing to plan. In the borders she hand quilted things like guns, animal tracks, leaves, etc. He loved it! Very true, for guys, it is not a beauty contest as someone mentioned earlier. :-)

Here is a picture of the camo quilt I made. Mine was done in the military Jungle camo for a Vietnam Vet. Army and Marine camo comes in 2 shades - all dark for Jungle, or all lights for Desert. Air Force and Navy use greys. Hunter's camo could include a bit of orange or sky blue. The idea is to blend in with your background.

When I used camo in a quilt, I found several types and incorporated all of them. It was fun and the lighter shades of camo added some contrast without breaking from the theme of the quilt.

I think the light colors are very nice.. BUT my son has a camo bed set and when he looked at this he said the all darker fabrics would be more camo. Then he told me "its camo its not a beauty contest". You do what you like - I just thought his comment was funny so I wanted to share
