Thanks, sue. Dh said it can't be too bad, they didn't rush me down the hall to the o.r. Or put me in a hospital room. I was under the influence of two Valium as I am completely claustrophobic, so add a little country music, and i made it thru. There was a leger exhibit at the Philly museum of art ( remember rocky running up the steps?) and as we are members we got in free. I love going to exhibits there. I think of modern art as ' 50's and '60's, but it's really turn of the century. So advanced! I love the play of color!

Thanks for the name of another artist: Mondrian. He has very interesting works. It makes ones brain go crazy with ideas when I look at art.

I do hope the results of your test produced some answers. It is always a stressful time when one has an unexplained illness. My thoughts are with you.

Amh-- here's one of my most favorite artists, Barbara Hepworth. She was British and sculpted large very organic pieces. There's a large installed piece in the dallas sculpture garden, and in the early days i would walk around it, feeling the bronze, the texture and the mood of the piece. I can't tell you the profound effect it had on me! It spoke to my soul! I have been so fortunate to have world famous art pieces within reach, literally. I am a very tactile artist, so fabric is just another medium and direction for me. I am collecting pieces of silk to do an all silk quilt. Sometimes touch is even more important than sight.

I've been a lurker on this forum for a while... I love to make art quilts... Mine vary by what I have on hand. The November challenge regarding the artists struck a chord with me.. Paul Klee is an impressionist whos paintings I think will translate well to fabric...

I'm going to give this a shot...

This is my Albers WIP. My son has been home so I can't complete. It is a gift for him. Will look great in his apartment.
Wonder what will be suggested for December.

Dotty-- i haven't heard of Albers so will look him up. I do know what i like, and i like what you have done. I will go see how it relates to Albers' work.

i do have an idea for December, not that I've finished November. What about a whole cloth piece in the color of the season you are in. For instance, the predominate color in ny/pa this time of year ought to be white for snow. Or grey for sludge. In Australia it might be green, for spring summer. Sw USA , beige or tan for dormant grasses, etc. stir any answering inspirations?

Josef Albers was an artist who studied the interaction of color. So the placement of the 4 same colors changes the way we see them.

Here is my cubist period entry. It is hanging on a wall in a corner where I cannot get a good shot and so it looks crooked, but it's not---that will be another quilt.

Meanwhile I think that the theme suggested by nancia is great! Let's do it!

BTW all you lurkers out there. These challenges in no way need to be master works for your local gallery. How about a mug rug for a friend that is also an xmas gift? A little bathroom wall hanging for right above the toilet paper dispenser? Whatever! --just use the monthly theme as a starting point and stretch your creative side a bit. C'mon and join in. This is a relaxing space where we just become more our true selves. So valuable during this time of year.

Hope you all do not get too stressed out, that health problems are much smaller than they originally appear and that you don't overspend your budget or have a family drama unfold. Remember to enjoy the season!
