I actually have some fabric with this color in my stash. For once, I'm ahead of the curve. Woo hoo!

RST: Great explanation on how that works. Another form of planned obsolescence to drive sales by creating a phony "need".

Exactly. That color is putrid on me no matter what the "experts" say. I have too much olive in my skin.

Just the other day I was at one of the local quilt shops, she showed us the block of the month they were just finishing up, purple was a main focal point, it was lovely. There was a good deal of green on it too, it blended so nicely. And I said, I missed this one, as my daughter has always liked purples and this one would have been perfect, where my eye goes to pinks and reds. Funny how colors come and go, the trendy ones anyways. Wonder if this is the reason years ago, harvest gold and avocodo were the rage??? Thanks for sharing this, now I will watch to see this color popping out to me, not that I would necessarily buy it.

When I made my wedding gown 43 years ago this past August I was criticized for not making it white, and like I told those folks then, I only plan to do this wedding thing once so I'm going to have a dress the color I want. I guess after 43 years this marriage might last if we're lucky, lol.
Luckily we live in a town that has purple and gold for our school colors-2nd town with these school colors I've lived in. When I was teaching I always had purple to wear on Friday's our school color day. I've made 2 purple quilts for myself and have tons of purples in my stash. I haven't decided just what pattern for a purple quilt I will make next. I'm sure I will have to purchase this color if I see it around here.
Gerbie, yes...I agree with everything you say! I had a purple bedroom in 1962. My mother let me paint the walls lavender, and I was allowed to dye a bedspread and curtains purple. Loved it. Then I had a purple sewing room, purple classroom (I taught 39 years) and the purple continues. I have been told I should let my tastes "grow up," but, oh well. When I do show and tell at the guild meetings, if I don't have something purple to show (which is rare), I hear "Where's the purple?"

    Purple is just fun.

its a stunning color to be sure, not so much that it fits in every day décor perhaps more for clothing and such things as little trinkets to wear.. I have such a traditional home it might not work so well. great for art work however maybe wall hangings and such.. no orchid quilt for me

Me too. Love purples, also had the purple bedroom. That was after the pink and gray Elvis colors bedroom. I make purple clothing and made a purple quilt for myself. I just bought purple sheets, already have a stash of purple fabrics. But if I didn't like it, I just wouldn't buy it. No biggie.

my color of the year is whatever I have already bought for friends and family - in other words - their fav. color. But I also sew for my precious gdaughter and her fav color is purple - so - guess I may be using the color of the year after all. Ha.

well, I am in ft. worth and teach but because of the bad weather (all you people in the cold states can laugh - it's ok) school was called off so I will be spending this surprise day off at my machine finishing some Christmas projects - I am so happy!!

    Blessings to you all,
    Scherrie

I like the color, but I did not know Pantone was the boss of the color world. Hee, hee, live and learn.
