These are also great for holding your ice cream bowl!
I made a slight change to mine. I cut open the darts after they are sewn and trimmed away some batting so that when the 2 sides are put together there is way less bulk in those areas.

I have seen the pattern for the bowls that included the quilted tops to keep splatters from making a mess. have made at least a dozen bowls but never bothered with lids. My kids use them to reheat leftovers, chili etc. not just soup

For fear of sounding like a broken record please be careful and selective, when putting fabric in the microwave. A fire in the microwave is a dangerous situation. Arcing in your microwave can also ruin it.
