I bought a Dresdan ruler. Cut out 20 pieces out of 5" squares. Got them all ready and sewed them together. I didn't have a circle. I had to go back on each one and take a bigger seam until I could get them to join. I'm finding that all rulers are not the same. Directions don't say inches - they just say use a ruler. Tutes should tell us how wide the top and bottom is and how tall so we would end up with the same product that is being shown. Frustrated. :-(

Also, we don't all have the money to spend on each ruler. If we had the dimensions we could make our own. :-)

Good point! I've been look for a Dresdan ruler too, but it never occured to me that they might not be accurate.

Each one seems to be accurate but with different requirements - not all will work with 20 pieces. I have one template that says 18 degrees and is 3 1/4" at the top with 3/4" at the bottom. Another one is 3" at the top and 1" at the bottom and still another that is 3 1/2 at the top and 1" at the bottom. :-(

Can you give me the top and bottom measurements please? Is it the one that requires 20 pieces? (I hope)

Ok, after a lot of searching I finally found the answer to the different rulers. Some of them tell you what degree it is. If you are so lucky, take 90 and divide it by the degree (9, 18, 15, 22.5 etc) and that gives you how many wedges you need in a quarter of the Dresden circle. Times that number by 4 and you will know how many wedges to cut.. I found it to be anywhere from 40 down to 16 depending on the ruler. :-) Just an FYI for anyone who has a ruler and it doesn't match the pattern specs. :-)
