Default HELP SANTA'S suit is now red with pink fuR

My friend went to have his Santa suit dry cleaned and they must of washed it. The white fur became pink. I advised him to throw in dye catchers. What else should he use, or other suggestions. He is the most unhappy Santa, and really needs help to look like a presentable Santa.

Color catchers is my first thought too. Maybe he should take it back to the cleaners and see if they can fix it.

The only suggestion I have is to wash it several times with Synthrapol. What happened is that loose dye particles from the red fabric have settled into the white fur. Synthrapol helps suspend loose dye particles in water so they can be rinsed away. Had it been used during the first wash, chances are good the white fur would have remained white. Once the pink tint is in there, it's harder for Synthrapol to work. However, I have had it remove staining like that with multiple washings. What the suit will end up looking like is another risk, though, as I'm sure those suits were not meant for multiple water washings.

Isn't the dry cleaning company liable for the damage, though? They should have known better. I think they should pay for a new suit.

I had someone bring me a Santa suit that had the same thing happen. All I could do was replace the white fur. Ask the cleaning company to cover the cost. Take lots of pictures and save the pink fur for evidence if it will require trip to small claims!

This happened to my son in laws Santa Suit a couple of years ago and the dye cleaners did nothing about it so I took it and removed all the pink fur and replaced the fur with nice new fur.

I think my friend did put the cleaners on the Naughty list and he decided replacing the fur after Christmas was the best solution. Thank you all and have a Merry Christmas
