The 6600 is a wonder workhorse! And I have the 12000. Many machines I also have bernina (love!) and Viking (love!). And pfaff (ok). Each with their strengths etc. if you're looking at struck sewing in Janome look at the 8's (8200 8900). I didn't like the aqs system in the 7700. If not look at Viking and bernina or brother. The dealer is extremely important. Good luck!

I have the Janome New Home 7700. Love it I got a really good deal (at least I think so) Since the machine was so expensive, I asked them if they would throw in the table that it fits in. And they did. Love SewingMachinesPlus.

I bought the Horizon 7700 QCP three and a half years ago as a retirement present to myself (along with a cruise/land tour of Alaska). I am still in love with my 7700. I do general sewing on it, mending, buttonholes - all kinds of stuff. I am also learning to free motion quilt on it. It's an awesome machine and I would have to think long and hard about trading it in for something else.

Have had the 6600, 7700 and now 8900. Only had problems with the 7700. Quite frankly my old Pfaff 7570 outperforms all of them for being bomb proof. I think the thread cutter causes some of the issues with any brand. Having said that I would be devastated without it. LOL I wish I could recoup all the money I've spent on machines and just get an easy basic model with no fancy features. No brand in mind for that.

My husband uses a Janome 3160 QDC. It has the needle positioner and the cutter, and is a wonderful machine for piecing. And it was not all that expensive, I paid about $500.00 for it, and that was just a couple of years ago. It is a real work horse, and light weight enough that I 'borrow' it for quilt group!
