LOLO OMGosh, THAT is the block I picked out to do...It's been on my cutting table, all pcs cut, ready to sew together.. I think it is the neatest block. Hope to get out there today and sew it up. Shoot, thot I clicked what Brat posted!! It's the All Hallows block..that I'm making.

Oh...so many choices. You guys are great! I have reversed course, I still want to do my applique center but don't want to try to decide what the borders will look like without the center. So...have to decide on a center block. A great kind of problem.

Silence??? Elizabrat. That's the sound of our brains working at full speed. (Full speed for me isn't all that fast.) I'm doing the first one because it goes well with my center block.

Good one, Mom-6. That worked great.

I'm already having second thoughts about my square and color selection. Nows the time to have second thoughts I guess. I thought I liked blue and brown together but as I put up some trial squares I'm not sure that I like the warm and cool together.

Well I got my Center out of the Round Robin Quilt, now to make it 24.5-inches. I don't want it to be on point so I'll just have to figure that out. Won't be today, almost time to go to sons for New Years Day dinner, must have my cabbage and black-eyed peas!

Wishing all a Blessed 2014!

Hugs,
Cajun

Hi Jaba, can you please tell me the size your blocks ended up in both of your examples before adding them to the center? We get to keep celebrating today, so no sewing just yet. I'm leaning towards the 2nd example but will have to play later. Thanks to both of you for your efforts at organizing this, I'm really looking forward to it.

I just finished my center. It is Irises and Lions from quilterscache.com. Current size is 18 1/2" square. Not the same contrast as in the sample on the website, but I still like it. Others mentioned maybe making this block too...can't wait to see different variations!

I will think on the 1st border and probably test a couple squares in the next few days. Need to work on the Alabama block for the 50 Fabulous Stars BOW now.

Ok, I had to look at the sample borders again and am pretty sure I will do jaba's 1st option...that will give me an effect of a red border. Now to decide what other color...suggestions? I am thinking maybe the gold or light green.

carriem - that is gorgeous! I am still auditioning blocks but I think the ribbon border will work for my first round. Getting it cut and sewed is a whole 'nother story.

Wow I am loving all the centers I have seen so far. I especially love W4Me's Tall Cat. Here is a picture of my center a version of four cabin blocks put together.

My first round I want to try the EntwinedBorder from
http://www.quilterscache.com/E/EntwinedBorder.html

I need to add another two inch border around my blocks so the Entwined Border will fit properly. So now to figure out what color fabric to add to make my square the right size for the Entwined Border. Wow this is going to be lots of sewing.

ok after playing with my fabric scraps I am doing a 4 patch instead of a 9 patch the scale fits better since my block is so large. Here is what I whipped up today. I am determined to use up those little scraps and yellow and oranges are such a BIG stretch for me.. bright. Next round is red/white/maybe some pinks going to attack that pile bit.. by bit.
