Another crayon box quilt. This was my first quilt after coming back to quilting after many years of absence

The Crayon Box quilts are great, but off topic, I believe. If you do a google image search for BQ quilts you are sure to see a big variety. I think scrappy blocks of almost any design would benefit from this setting, but I'd probably stick with just two fabrics for the framework pieces because they set up a repeated design throughout the quilt and act as sort of an interesting sashing for the big blocks that would give it some control. For anyone who hasn't seen it, here's the video that alderdweller mentioned. http://video.wpt.org/video/2365057122/

I prefer scrappy controlled, but I have seen many "throw in the kitchen" scrappy quilts that are gorgeous. I have a little trouble doing that, may be a little OCD.

I made a quilt with this pattern. I started with a layer cake and resized the side pieces to get the correct proportion. The layer cake was shades of blacks, grays, and tans. Used a cream and gray with black dots for the additional fabrics.
