I like the second one with the maroon fabric the best.

The first is cool, the second warm. I think I prefer the first because I react to the cool (light green) and because I really like the maroon cornerstones with that green (instead of the dark green you mention) because of the contrast.

Really, I think it's just personal preference. Both versions work!

I like both of them, but prefer #2, it just seems to go more with the fall theme

It is interesting how the sashings make the camera read the fabric colors so differently. The second color warms everything up so nicely while the first color really cools it all off. I think I would go with the second color. But might change my mind under other circumstances.

I prefer the first one. It makes the individual blocks stand out more. With the second, everything blends and you don't get the oomph of the separate blocks. Good luck, either way it will be a lovely quilt.

What is the name of this block? I can't place it.
I sent a PM to the poster, but I also would like to know what that block is. I think it is log cabin squares cut on the diagonal. I just love it. I will have to make that one, as I am now working on a log cabin and would like to make it this way.

I like them both. The green makes the blocks pop and the maroon creates that Halloweeny feel.
