Well, in the Houston, Texas area........ if there is a "hint" of snow/ice....... we shut the city. It happened on Friday, January 24, 2014. The news last night reported 505 accidents in Houston. People were advised to stay off the roads and to skip work, if possible. A cousin reported that he was supposed to go in to the office in Houston, but saw 4 wrecks within a few miles from home, so turned around. He lives a little north of us, so he had snow, but we had only a little sleet/snow that was barely visible. I was finishing a small quilt.....safely indoors. When it warmed up in the afternoon, I took the quilt to the post office for mailing. The postal clerk said that although it was quiet all morning, the afternoon was much busier.
