Our daughter made us a lap quilt for Christmas. Love it and knowing all the time it took to make it, makes it very special. She works full time so was a labor of love. It was a zig zag quilt.

Yes, my eyes would light up. I would know the time and thought they put into the gift made just for me and the love in every stitch. My girls did that for m and it is the most treasured quilt I have. They got into my scrap bin and took fabrics left from things that I had made them thru the years and made a Grandmother's Flower Garden quit for me. Some fo the pieces dont fit together and there is a tuck here and there but it was made with love from my 3 girls and I treasure that quilt.

Just about anything! Yesterday i went to a Ricky Tims' workshop. I would graciously accept any of his quilts he would like me to have! I love that someone would want to make one just for me!

I would LOVE any quilt that was made/given to me. Maybe then I would have a homemade quilt on my bed.

Probably any except something made from double knit. If I got one, even if the thought was right, it would go to my husband for moving furniture or working. I just don't want one.

A dream would be, as the OP, a needle turn applique with all kinds of wilderness motifs, or a Baltimore Album type with gorgeous flowers. Or an optical illusion one--or a Judy Niemeyer ? spelling with all that fantastic paper piecing.

If a person cared enough to give me a quilt, it wouldn't matter the content or the ability. I'd cherish it forever. Just this summer, I had the privilege of meeting a very active, super-talented QB member for the first time. She brought along two of her current masterpieces to show me. This lady puts her heart and soul into her quilts. Imagine my surprise when she gifted me one of her quilts. It was one of the biggest surprises of my life. I was speechless and so very humbled by her generosity. I display it constantly and use it frequently. It is something I will always cherish, just like our friendship. Thanks again JV!

If something involves a needle, or thread among my friends, family, or acquaintances, the usual response is "talk to Kelly" since I am the only sewing person in the group. I have two lap quilts made by members here during exchanges that are my treasures because they were made just for me. They are hanging in my home as art, because that is what they are to me. Because I am the only sewer in my world outside of this board, or my local quilt guild, the idea that someone took the time to make me something with their own hands brings me happiness every time I look at them. Here they are so you can enjoy them too. One hangs in my dining room, and the other hangs in my family/sewing room. Thank you again ladies, you know who you are.

If you get tired of the red one keep me in mind! Love it. I think that if I had a choice I would go for an old crazy quilt with all the extra embroidery and different fabrics in it. This is on my bucket list when I get old. lol I am getting awful close now (69). I have only kept 3 quilts for myself. Two large wall hangings and a king size for my bed. I usually make average 50 per year, most of which go to people in need. All of my kids and their kids have now gotten one and I am working on round two.

I'm the only person who sews much in my family, so I'd be cheered by anything anyone made me by hand. I know the kind of work that goes into those pieces, especially if they were a novice, and I'd treasure any kind of craft given to me.
