Actually, this is correct -
Feeling good was good enough for me, good enough for me and Bobby McGee.
Replace it with "I" - doesn't work.
"Feeling good was good enough for I, good enough for Bobby McGee and I."

I know that "cutting and drying" could apply to "making hay"

It could also apply to the process of preserving meat

I don't know how it came to mean "the matter has been decided"

I was at the dollar store a little while ago & the clerk asked this man how he was doing & he said fair. Then she said fair to midland. Never understood this one either. I always thought cut & dry meant it was over & done with.

I think the expression is "fair to middling"
