I might be nuts but I think you should let the quilt sit and ferment for a few weeks/months. That is, until you get your "steam" back. You will look at the quilt differently and it will be easier to tackle. I like the idea of the thin borders then the wider last border. Good luck it is a beautiful quilt.

wow, now you have me worried. I never thought about the weight issue. After seeing your last post, I decided to make one myself. So far I have done three blocks. I figure if I do one block a week, it will take me a couple of years to finish. As far as the border, after you decide what you want to do, piece the three (if you decide on three) borders together by themselves, and then add them to the quilt, that way, you are only working with one border to attach. Might make it a little easier. Good luck.
