I never cut fabric unless I am fairly sure how I'm going to use it.

No! don't cut it! Wait until you know what you need. Many FQ patterns can be made with a regular quarter yard. I hardly ever buy FQ's, I much prefer yardage.

I do not cut my fabric into smaller amonts until I know what I will need for the project I will be making.

Same here. Made the mistake of cutting some strips from yardage then changed my mind about the pattern..
