I'm with all the ladies who move up to the next whole inch ( ie: 5" instead of 4 7/8). I would much rather trim a little off after i sew than try to make sure i get that dang 7/8 right on the mark.

Hi-
I need some help. I am looking at all these wonderful patterns online and alot of the squares have you cut 2 7/8th or 4 7/8ths etc. I bought a HST ruler to avoid cutting these strips and doing the whole sew on the diagonal thing..drives me nuts drawing the lines!
ANYWAYS, how do I use my ruler to make these HSTs? What is the actual size of these when cutting with a 7/8th measurement. I'm going batty!! But that could be because of this winter and MORE SNOW is on the way! GOOD TIMES!

There are so many rulers out there it is unbelievable.
There are also a few PP products. Thangles is the brand I have used. There are also a few more brands available.
It will also depend on if you are doing HST's from your scraps you might have to do one at a time.

Here is a link that show how to make HST using different rulers. If your ruler is not one of these then do a search on your brand or call the manufacture of the ruler to ask how to use it or your LQS may be able to help. Actually it shoud have come with directions.

If you are using the Easy Angle rule, Bonnie Hunter has a video on her blog showing how to use it.

If you are not using that ruler, you might check and see if there is a helpful video on YouTube. I am always amazed what I. Can find on there--when I remember to check!
