Hi Myra....I looked in my inbox but didn`t find your note, sorry....maybe it just didn`t come through...The pattern comes from a magazine.....I have a lot of magazines so when I land on it I will let you know. The name of the pattern is cross pattern and if I remember right it is called "Hello Garden" ...it is a 9 patch if I remember right....I don`t remember the exact size of the squares...

    Default Tie Quilt

Thanks super member, I have a lot of my fathers ties that I have saved, and have been wanting to make something out of them. I did find a block to make from a magazine, with the skinny end of the tie also. Happy Quilting, Spring is on it's way, Blessings, Jean

I made a tie quilt several years ago and it was auctioned off for a charity. it took in 800.00 from some guy, and I had sashed it in black and use the tie labels at the intersections of each block. Un fortunately I did not take a picture.. but i used a crazy quilt style pattern, that i ordered from shar. it turned out great .Want to make another one soon. cmaras1234

Wow this quilt looks awesome! I will definitely have to try this soon. I've been collecting ties for quite a while now and have a good sized garbage bag full. Thanks for the post!

I know this is an old thread, but my dad just passed away, and I'd like to make a quilt from his ties. I've been searching all over, and this block is one of my favorites I've seen. I also appreciate this tutorial. A couple of questions, since I'm a fairly beginning quiltmaker. Is there a pattern for this, or are you just designing the blocks with strip width as you go? If so, any tips on this for someone who's only sewn squares, strips and half point triangles so far? Also, have you finished this quilt? I'd love to see the finished product! Thanks
