Wow, so many talented and giving members on the QB. I have only donated one so far to our local church to auction for the heating/energy fund to help those in need.

If everyone donated locally there would be less need for the expensive shipping costs. I make quilts for the local NICU, receiving blankets for the local Women's Center, and I also make "Nebraska" stocking caps for the newborns at the hospital (well over 2,000 so far). The men in particular request the little caps for their new babies.

I have donated a quilt to an auction for our local food pantry. I make and donate all the seasonal table toppers for the local senior center since they do not have money to decorate tables. Our local theatre had to upgrade to the digital projection system and I donated a quilt for their fund raiser. Our quilt group is in the process of making flannel shawls for the local nursing home, so we each made one or two. There are 60 people in the nursing home. Our quilt group makes quilts for the ambulance when they pick up children. The kids keep the quilts. We save our scraps to make beds for our no kill animal shelter. Our group makes bibs, receiving blankets, and burp rags for new babies or new foster babies.

I make baby hats for various hospitals. That may not be a charity but it is what I do. I have also donated material to some who make charity quilts. I have tried to get connected with Children's Hospital to make "mourning sets". Baby hat and blanket to use with premies that don't make it because that is a need close to my heart. I haven't been successful so far and if any of you ladies know how to get involved with this, I would love for you to send me a PM. So many of the ladies on this board do so much for others.

I belong to a church group that makes quilts for The Battered Women's Shelter in our area. We make baby to twin size for the children. We learn new techniques and patterns while making something for a child in need.

I have made quilts for our local homeless shelter, quilts that were auctioned off and proceeds going to a shelter for abused women, and some for folks in a nursing home. Now I am also making crib sheets and blankets for children in shelters. It is sad to see so many families ending up homeless. I am so thrilled to see so many on this board working so hard to help others. You are all the best!!

My churches sewing ministry has donated quilts and walker pockets to our local Veteran's home, local nursing home, church members that have been hospitalized, newborn nursery, several nursing homes in the northern part of the state. We made dresses, bags, shorts and rag dolls for groups going to the mission field from our church. We have been an organized group for almost 4 years. We meet weekly. Right now we are working to get enough quilts made to donate to our local Veteran's Home again around the 4th of July. When we donate to a nursing home, or the VA home we make sure we have enough for every resident of the home.
