Whitepine I sure do like your version of the staggered keys. Very effective and really sets everything off. Jaba, followed the round robin and yours has been one of my favorites since it began. Really like the focus fabric that you used. Very, very pretty. Brat will be interested in how you finish yours up to make rectangular. I am doing the same thing. It is rectangular now, but with a length not divisible by 6. May have to add another filler border or something.

Thanks, everyone.

jaba, Beautiful quilt. It turned out great. I've never much cared for the braid border (next to the last) but I really like the way this one was done. What a LOT of work.

That is pretty, Whitepine. It looks so simple, but we know it isn't! You are right, that braid border was work. lol

Is there a way to navigate this thread so I can find each border suggestion? There are so many pages!

I have put this mitered border on my project. I have never done one before and thought I would give it a try. Well, it turned out awful. I hope you can see in the picture because I need help on how to fix this. The border is wavy. So, did I not measure correctly? What is the easiest way to fix this? I appreciate the advise.

sustraley, I have mitered several corners and do not consider myself at expert. However, I have learned a few things along the way. First of all did you do a strip set of the white and other borders? I have done it both ways and SO prefer it. Starch nice and stiff and stiffer. Then measure the middle of the quilt and the ends (both vertically and horizontally). If you are right on with the same, that is what you use. Some figure an average of the three numbers, if they vary slightly, and I have done it that way as well. Then measure exactly and stitch to 1/4 of the end. I always precut my borders and have them cut at 45 angle and cut the strip set after it is assembled. I have tried (once) to put on individual borders and cut after it was attached as some recommend and it was a disaster. Then just seam the 45 angle stopping at the point on the corner where you discontinued sewing them to the body of the quilt. When I first started, I used freezer paper and ironed it on before I cut the borders. That keeps them nice and straight and there isn't any waving going on. If you don't use freezer paper, then the starch works as a stabilizer. So far, it has worked for me and I haven't had the wavy problem--yet! Yourst is a beautiful quilt and the borders frame it so wonderfully. I especially like the white to set it off. Probably others will chime in with their methods. Good luck.

Not sure sustraley but it looks like you did the white border first and mitered it. Then you did the green, printed and then green again. If this is correct the white border is the one that is off and making your whole edges wavy. I can see on the white that the mitered is "pinched" so to speak, see how it doesn't lay flat? You have not measured that round correctly and it's puckering in the corners so your next rounds will all be off. If you didn't do that let me know what your "steps" were and I'll try to advise what I would do.
